Personal Journals
Personal Journals is the debut album by American hip hop artist Sage Francis, released on April 16, 2002 on Anticon. It is Sage Francis' first album released on a label, following the self-released Sick Of series of mix albums. Recording sessions took place during 2001. Production was handled by various producers, including Sixtoo, Mayonnaise, and Jel. Upon its release, Personal Journals has reviews very good reviews from critics, including a 9.5 rating on RapReviews.com. The album failed to chart in any country. It produced one single, "Climb Trees", which did not chart either.
Reviews
Personal Journals has received high reviews from critics. Allmusic gave the album four out of five stars. Pitchfork Media gave it a 8.7 out of 10 ratings. RapReviews.com gave the album a 9.5 out of 10. Robert Christgau gave it a "*" which means an honorable mention. Finally Stylus Magazine gave the album an A- rating.
